When something happens in Buckhead…

March 31, 2008

that is note worthy it is easy to tell.  The news choppers hover above to show the world what is happening.  This happened a few minutes ago.  Funny thing is that there have not been any choppers show up on Sunday morning to see what is going on here at Buckhead Church.  God is doing great things among us here in buckhead and lives are being changed for His glory!

Easter is approaching…

March 20, 2008

very quickly this year. We are having a Good Friday service as well as three Easter services this Sunday at Buckhead Church. As a child it was a tradition to get a new outfit to wear to church on Easter morning. Does anyone else know about this tradition? Is this just a Tennessee thing or maybe a Baptist thing? Either way I think it would be interesting to hear what traditions you have for Easter and if they have anything to do with the sacrifice and resurrection of Christ.

I will be a lame duck…

March 10, 2008

for at least the next two weeks.  I had surgery this past Friday to remove 5mm of flesh around a mole that came back as precancerous.  The doctor put 8 stichtes in me and I can’t lift more than 5 lbs. for the next two weeks.  I know that this might not be a big deal to some but my job in large part is pretty physical…but not for the next two weeks.  Thanks guys on Buckhead Operations team for picking up the slack!

It’s been a tough day…

February 5, 2008

and I had to don the sweat band to wipe off the old forehead.  Ok..it was not that hard of a day I just  had this sweat band  given to me by the  student ministry  the other day when we were cleaning out their storage area and I had to put it on.  People around the office are not sure what to think…

I was reminded…

January 24, 2008

by Jeff Henderson in our staff meeting on Wednesday that we should be praying and expecting God to do big things with our lives!  I often get excited about possibilities in my future but I let life steal that joy.  What are you praying for that is so big that if God does not come through it will fail?

Thanks to Jo…

January 24, 2008

Albright for the new header.  We are still tweaking it some but Jo you did an awesome job.  Thanks so much for your help on this.  Jo and I work together at Buckhead Church and he is also attending school to do this type of work you see above.  I love people who can do this type of stuff.

Three big pigs…

January 3, 2008

were in the back of the truck…then there were two. Brian Miller and I ran to North Point today to pick up three Styrofoam pigs for KidStuf this Sunday and on the way back down 400 at 65mph one of the pigs began to fly. It was the coolest thing I have seen in a while but I am sure that’s not what the Semi-truck driver behind us thought. Fly big pig fly!

Our Small Group Christmas Party…

December 17, 2007

was so much fun. As you can see below we had plenty to eat, including this 13 lb. ham that Cody cooked, as well as our first group picture. Who would ever imagine that a group of people could meet weekly for a years time and not have taken a group picture? Well we finally got one! Thanks to everyone in our small group for all that you are to Jill and I. We look forward to another 6 months with you all!

Sunday night group…

December 10, 2007

was great.  Jill and I lead a small group through BC of married couples.  There are 7 couples in our group and we have had some great times over the past year that we have been meeting.  Last night was one of those nights.  The guys got together at the Lowery’s and played video games, ordered pizza, and pounded our chests…ok…not the last part.  It was a great time.  The ladies got together at our place and ordered pizza and cooked homemade cookies.  YUMMY!!  Coming home to the smell of fresh baked cookies is an amazing experience.  Thanks to our wonderful wives for thinking of us enough to fix us cookies.
